Fra il 2004 e il 2016 abbiamo costruito e sviluppato in alcuni villaggi rurali del Senegal delle scuole materne per fornire educazione a circa 440 bambini dai 3 ai 6 anni.

Da qualche anno per queste scuole provvediamo inoltre al servizio mensa e al carretto-bus che raccoglie i piccoli e le piccole alunne dai loro villaggi di provenienza per accompagnarli a scuola e riportarli a casa ogni giorno. Come potete immaginare, offrire un pasto nella mensa scolastica non è solo necessario ai bambini per un apporto nutritivo adeguato, ma è anche un importante strumento per incentivare le famiglie a mandare i propri figli a scuola, che possono così ricevere un’educazione per il loro futuro. E’ quindi fondamentale che questo servizio non venga a mancare.

Offrire un pasto ai 440 bambini che frequentano le nostre 4 scuole in Senegal costa circa 800 euro al mese. Lo stipendio delle insegnanti, inoltre ha un costo di circa 680 euro, per un totale di circa 1500 euro al mese. Negli ultimi anni abbiamo sostenuto questi costi vincendo bandi di fondazioni o con altri progetti di supporto.

Purtroppo, quest’anno non siamo riusciti ad ottenere il finanziamento sperato e ci troviamo a dover affrontare una situazione di “emergenza” al fine di evitare di mettere in pausa questo progetto fondamentale allo sviluppo e alla vita di quest* bambin*.

Between 2004 and 2016 we built and implemented several preschools in Senegalese villages, providing education for about 440 children ages 3 to 6.

For a few years now, we have also been supplying a school canteen service and a cart-bus picking up pupils from their villages, taking them to school and back home every day. As you can imagine, school meals not only ensure children the nourishment they need, but they are also instrumental in incentivizing families to send their kids to school, thus improving their chance of a better future. Therefore, the continuation of this service is of the utmost importance.

Offering a meal to the 440 children attending our 4 schools in Senegal amounts to a 800-euro expense. Moreover, our teachers receive a 680-euro income, for an approximate total of 1500 euros per month. In the past few years, we covered these costs by winning calls for tenders or implementing support projects. Unfortunately, this year we could not obtain the grant we hoped for. Therefore, we find ourselves facing an “emergency”, trying our best to continue a project that is fundamental to the life and development of these children.
